Herman lived in Wheatland, Clinton County, Iowa; married Dora Emphke/Emke and had a son Grover born May 18,1888. She supposedly died when Grover was young. He later remarried and moved to Charter Oak, Crawford County, Iowa. He died in April, 1922 and is buried in Crawford County.
